Early to mid-career professionals from Germany and its African partner nations, including Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, and Togo, are brought together through the BMZ African German Leadership Academy, an innovative training and dialogue program.
In line with the goals of Africa's Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the program intends to foster the development of leadership abilities as well as the collaborative knowledge generation and peer learning necessary for sustainable development.
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development funds the program, which is organized and hosted by the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institute für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) (BMZ).
25 participants from government organizations, think tanks and research institutes, civil society, and the commercial sector will take part in the debate and training session.
They all combine their professional knowledge and work history in the field of sustainable development. Networking opportunities with stakeholders from various sectors in Germany and Europe as well as with representatives from African institutions are also made possible by participation in the program.

BMZ Leadership Academy Training Qualification Requirements
- Candidates for the BMZ African-German Leadership Academy ought to:
- Being a citizen or long-term occupant of one of the member nations
- Age range of 25 to 40.
- Consider matters that affect sustainable development and governance.
- Possess a minimum of three years of work experience (non-remunerated experience is also recognised)
- Possess the backing of their boss (written support required as part of application)
- Possess a knowledge of the English language at a high level (equivalent to B2 level of the CEFR)
- Respect diverse cultural traditions.
- Be receptive to teamwork, introspection, and a wide range of methodologies.
