Scholarships Program for Students from ECOWAS Member States on Sustainable Energy EU-ECOWAS 2022

For the benefit of qualified students from ECOWAS member states active in the energy sector, the EU-ECOWAS Scholarship program offers scholarships for master's degrees in the sustainable energy sector at specialized universities in West Africa (Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo).

The program's objective is to increase access to high-quality training in the sustainable energy sector in West Africa, enabling university graduates in the member states of ECOWAS, with a focus on young professionals who speak English, French, and Portuguese, to develop the profile necessary to meet the region's growing demand for experts at the highest levels in the field of sustainable energy and to support the sector's good governance.

About Economic Community of West Africa State (ECOWAS)

A regional political and economic union of fifteen West African nations is called the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), or CEDEAO in French. These nations have a combined size of 5,114,162 km2 (1,974,589 sq mi) and a population of over 349 million as of 2015.

The stated objective of ECOWAS, one of the main regional blocs that make up the whole African Economic Community (AEC), is to help its member states achieve "collective self-sufficiency" by forging a single, sizable trade bloc and fully integrating their economies and trading unions.

Additionally, the ECOWAS acts as a peacekeeping force in the region by occasionally deploying joint military forces to intervene in its member nations during periods of political unrest.

Aims and Benefits of the EU-ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Scholarship Program

There are two different sorts of scholarships offered under the program:

Scholarships for travel

Scholars are chosen to finish their master's degree programs at universities that are not in their home country. The award will cover the costs of education, living expenses, travel, a research grant, insurance, and visas.

Permanent Scholarships

Scholars are chosen to finish their master's degrees in institutions of higher learning situated in their home nations. The award will cover the scholars' research funding and tuition. There will also be a small stipend to help with travel and living expenses.

In order to adhere to financial constraints, scholarships will only be given to a select group of the most deserving applicants. Candidates are recommended to pick their top scholarship category after carefully weighing many aspects such as language, location, family, and internship chances.

Qualifications for the EU-ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Scholarship Program

The EU-ECOWAS Scholarship application form solicits comments from candidates who are eager to finish a master's degree at one of the universities that have been shortlisted in the energy industry. The following factors will be compared during the analysis stage of the scholarship selection process to the data obtained through the application form:
