Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD Scholarships for International Students from the Rotary Yoneyama Foundation, Opening Soon

The Foundation provides financial aid to international students who want to attend Japanese graduate or undergraduate institutions to study or do research. Rotarians from all around Japan donate to the organization's scholarship fund. In terms of program scope and total number of scholarships provided, the Foundation is Japan's largest private scholarship provider.

About Rotary Yoneyama Foundation

The Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation offers scholarships that are privately funded to international students who are studying or conducting research in Japan. All of the Rotarians in Japan have contributed to the scholarship fund.

The fellowship provides financial assistance to outstanding foreign students who are enrolled in Japanese universities or conducting research there and who will later take an active part in both domestic and international society.

To honor Mr. Umekichi Yoneyama, a businessman who made a significant contribution to founding Japan's first Rotary club, the Rotary Club of Tokyo, the Yoneyama Scholarship program was established. The program was started by the club in 1952 and later became a cooperative effort of Rotary clubs all throughout Japan.

Upon receiving approval from the Ministry of Education, the initiative changed its name to the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation in 1967. (now the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology).

The Foundation's mission is to provide financial aid to non-Japanese students pursuing academic studies and/or research in Japanese universities and other institutions and who will later take an active part in their home societies and the global community.

Yoneyama Scholars gain personal knowledge of Japanese culture and customs throughout their stays in Japan, allowing them to build bridges between their nations and Japan. It is envisaged that the Scholars would develop a strong sense of society participation through their interactions with rotary club members.

They will be expected to contribute on their own in the future to fostering and maintaining the vision of world peace and harmony that is shared by all Rotarians.Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD Scholarships for International Students from the Rotary Yoneyama Foundation, Opening Soon
