University of Flinders Sophia Fund Indigenous Bursaries 2022

 Do you know that a total of $500 bursaries is always given out each year as an elivating program, do well to submit your application on time to avoid disqualification.


The Sophia Fund Indigenous Bursaries were made possible by a kind gift from the Sophia Fund. They were created to entice students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds to enroll in higher education programs.

Flinders University Information

In Adelaide, South Australia, there is a public university called Flinders University. It was established in 1966 and is called in honor of the explorer and surveyor of the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century, Matthew Flinders. A member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and a thriving university, Flinders is ranked 36th globally and in the top 10 in Australia among institutions founded less than 50 years ago. Academically, the university was a leader in the use of a multidisciplinary approach to teaching, and its colleges of medicine and the humanities are well regarded.

Goal and Benefits of Indigenous Scholarships at Sophia Fund

A total of two $500 bursaries will be given out each year, pending funding availability.

Students in their first year of higher education study will be given these bursaries. The first semester is when payment is due.
Qualification Standards for Indigenous Sophia Fund Bursaries

To qualify for these bursaries, candidates must:

  • Be of Torres Strait Islander or Australian Aboriginal descent; and
  • identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in Australia; and
  • be acknowledged by the community in which they currently or previously lived as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
  • be enrolled in their first year of higher education,
  • be enrolled full-time at Flinders University in an undergraduate program.

Date, Method, and Location of Interviews for Indigenous Sophia Fund Bursaries

These scholarships will be given out based on academic potential and proven financial need. The Selection Score used to gain admission to their course of study, such as the TER or STAT score, will be used to evaluate the candidates' academic potential. The Yunggorendi, First Nations Centre for Higher Education and Research personnel will work with the selection committee in accordance with the protocols established by the Director, Academic and Student Services.

The Flinders University Student Information System should be used to submit applications. To submit an application, applicants must log in and go to the My Scholarships tab. If you search for it using the word "Indigenous," you can find the application for this scholarship under the heading "Indigenous Scholarships." If you fill out this application, you will be given consideration for several scholarships.
